This report has been commissioned by Ovaltine to collect customer feedback of their food drink. I have given my child Ovaltine for one month now and the experience has not been good. After careful consideration of my personal experience, I have reached a conclusion that the chocolate drink needs better ingredient and product information.

The ingredients menu does not highlight allergens. My son is allergic to nuts and he develops rashes and diarrhoea every time he is near them. This chronic disease is dangerous. As soon as I realised that Ovaltine was causing these symptoms, I put an end to the experiment immediately. Every time I buy food, I always check the ingredients menu, but this one does not list the allergens. Imagine that there is a child who has a severe reaction to some of your ingredients; it can be fatal.

Ovaltine’s chocolate smells grotesque after first use and the powder becomes hard in the pot. When I opened the Ovaltine container for the first time, it smelt decent. When I opened it for the second time, the powder smelt like dog poo. It smelt so revolting that I handed it to my wife to take a sniff and she also found it unpleasant. The powder hardens like a stone, which suggests that it absorbs air moisture. I had to hammer it repeatedly with a fork to break up a large lump.

In summary, Ovaltine’s products are unsafe for people with allergies unless they add an ingredients menu to highlight allergens so that customers can make an informed decision before buying the products. Ovaltine must add moisture absorbing bags to stop the powder becoming rock solid. With these improvements, Ovaltine has the chance to become much more popular.
