Have you ever dreamt of living in the world of “Dracula”? Then, “Dracula”, written by Bram Stoker, can be the book for you. It is a horror category which is set in 1800s between Dracula’s almighty castle in Transylvania and London. The story is written from the first-person point of view. This story is a complete thriller, and I savour the bloody images in the story for days even after I have finished it. I give it a rating of four out of five stars!
The story is about Jonathan Harker, a young lawyer, who is so interested in Transylvania that he ventures into Count Dracula’s castle for a stay. Jonathan is a curious man who wants to know what life is like in Transylvania. However, his interest soon turns to horror as he has lost his beloved wife.
I love Dracula’s cruelty towards everybody, and his demonic voice that booms across the hallways. His devious smiles send chills down my spine and his red eyes glare into my soul. There are also descriptive phrases such as “prolonged strains” which suggests an agonising pain. This story is terrifyingly perfect because it involves a ton of grave hatred, blood boiling terror upon me: Dracula takes the lives of hundreds of people including Mina, Jonathan’s wife. Out of all the tragic scenes of the story, my mind is captivated by how Van Helsing tells Jonathan that he will cut off Mina’s head and fill her mouth with garlic, and when he says “shall drive a stake through her body”. This phrase even makes Jonathan shudder himself! I am particularly fond of the novel because this demonic character creates a tension.
The story is so inspirational that I have always been interested in seeing how other authors have been inspired by Bram stoker. “Dracula” reminds me of escape rooms where once the characters enter, they must find a code to escape and how everybody’s hearts are beating at the speed of thunder.
In a nutshell, “Dracula” is a horror-inspirational masterpiece, and I hope you will be brave enough to read it. I strongly recommend this book will savour the satisfaction.
